The Board

Janice Dickens
Raised in church but unfamiliar with the gospel until high school, I gave my life to Christ in 1977, which ignited a lifelong passion for ministry. At Eastern Washington University, I actively participated in student ministries, led Bible studies, and received a call to missions at the Urbana Illinois Missions Conference. This led to eight years with Youth With A Mission (YWAM), serving across Europe and the Philippines in discipleship, outreach, and evangelism. I later spent 20 years in England leading Bible studies, prayer groups, and mentoring within various churches and my children’s Christian school. Since moving to Cashmere in 2005, I have been deeply involved at Christ Center, leading women’s ministries, prayer groups, discipleship programs, and young adult groups, as well as mentoring, ushering, and serving as the church’s first female board member. My journey has been one of unwavering commitment to faith, discipleship, and serving the body of Christ.

I grew up in the church and gave my life to Christ at the age of 5. I began attending Christ Center at the end of 1999 and for the last 25 years, Christ Center has been my home church. Despite moving all over the country and the world due to my career in the military, Christ Center has remained a rock I rely on. During these last 21 years in the military, I’ve helped Iraqi interpreters submit their lives to Jesus, led a Men’s Ministry in Virginia, served as an assistant Youth Leader in Salt Lake City, hosted bible studies at our house in East Wenatchee, pursued a seminary degree, and brought my family through a Family Discipleship Training School through YWAM in Kona, HI and Mexico. Currently, I have been a Christ Center board member since February 2020, I serve on a prayer ministry team with a local church here in Washington D.C., and my wife and I are in an 8 month Discipleship School through Antioch Church, continuing to pursue God’s plan for our family to the best of our ability.

I came to know Jesus Christ in 1992 through a series of relationships that only God could put together. The person who explained the gospel to me was an adult I despised in high school. After that encounter, I went home, got on my knees and accepted Jesus’ forgiveness & grace and asked Him into my heart. Since then I’ve been doing my best to love people like Jesus, live humbly and serve my community with a gifts God has giving me. I have had the honor of serving as Christ Center’s worship leader for 15 years from 2008-2023. Thanks for allowing me the privilege of serving on the board.

I gave my life to Christ in October 2005, with the help of Janice Dickens who led me in the sinner’s prayer. I have been a member of Christ Center ever since and joined the Gideons on August 20, 2007. I have preached and represented Gideons ministry in dozens of churches across the valley. I have also led numerous Bible studies with those working in agriculture. I have served as a bilingual chaplain in disaster response, congregational care and community crisis. In 2022, I was honored to become a board member here at Christ Center

About 15 years ago, I made a life-changing decision to take my faith seriously. Though I wasn’t raised in faith, I always felt a deep calling within me. A dear friend once urged me to “get off the fence,” and she was right. When I surrendered my heart to Jesus in prayer, the doors He began to open in my life amazed me. Finding Christ Center was a turning point that deepened my faith and ignited a passion within me to serve others. I have been blessed with opportunities to share the gifts God has given me, and I strive to use them in ways that glorify Him. As Christians, we have everything we need to grow in our relationship with Christ, and I feel called to help others discover that same joy.
It has been an honor to serve in many capacities—whether as a Christ Center Chaplain, supporting Moody Aviation, or ministering through Lighthouse Ministries. I have also had the privilege of mentoring women at the Hope House and serving at Christ Center in Alpha Ministries and more recently I am serving as a coordinator for our Christ Center Connect Team. Currently, I am in my second year on the board, and I am humbled to be used by God to advance His Kingdom.
